The Fluent Cyclist is a natural extension of Bicycle Lab which is a specialist bicycle fitting studio in Carrboro North Carolina.
Think of The Fluent Cyclist as an online university of road and triathlon cycling.
We offer courses that teach you about the technical aspects of cycling as well as sensible time tested training programs and techniques that will help you get more out of cycling.
Why The Fluent Cyclist?
Fluent in the sense that you understand enough about the type of riding you are doing so that it is tucked into your sub-conscious. You are not thinking about how does my bike work, or should I shift gears now, or even is my effort to hard or easy.
When you become fluent in a task or activity, it flows out of your sub-conscious thought
We all have experienced this flow in different tasks. Think of driving a car for example. When you first started driving you had to think about looking in the mirrors, handling all of the controls, obeying laws etc. Then at some point all of that became subconscious. Now when you drive you rarely think about all of those little things. You just do them without any conscious thought.
This is what The Fluent Cyclist is all about. Helping you get more out of your cycling no matter what type of road riding you do.
We are focused primarily on road and triathlon cycling though there is quite a bit of crossover between other types of riding.
